Improving the Performance of Constructed Wetland Microbial Fuel Cell (CW- MFC) for Wastewater Treatment and Electricity Generation

The current study deals with the performance of constructed wetland (CW) incorporating a microbial fuel cell (MFC) for wastewater treatment and electricity generation. whole unit is referred to as CW-MFC. This technique involves two treatments; first an aerobic which occurs in upper layer system (cathode section) second anaerobic biological lower (anode section). Two types electrode material were tested; stainless steel graphite. Three configurations electrodes arrangement CW-MFC used. In CW-MFC, anode was graphite plate (GPa) cathode also (GPc), unit, mesh (SSMa) couple plain (SSPc). third (GPc). It found that maximum generation (9 mW/m3) obtained cathode. After 10 days operation, best result COD removal (70%) effect temperature investigated. operation tested at three values temperature; 30, 35 40oC. 40oC, density 80 mA/m3. A culture Algae could grow order supply cathodic region oxygen.
